Bend Restrictor Innovation For Subsea Applications
A simple efficiency is to use a boltless hub bend limiter, which can shorten the installation time of the bend limiter on the umbilical cable and other cables on the drill ship. The vertebral curvature limiter (sometimes called the curvature limiter) allows the umbilical cord to be manipulated with low force until the component segment is locked at the specified radius of curvature. At this locking bending radius, the segment chains are locked to each other, thereby forming an anti-kink and anti-hook bending around the umbilical cord, thereby protecting the integrity of the umbilical cord.
Most offshore elbow flow restrictors are made of high-strength, environmentally friendly polyurethane. The vertebral bending limiter can be located on a freely hanging straight line or can be connected to a fixed structure. Use innovative boltless wheels to speed up the installation of the bend limiter to the umbilical cord. Because there are no bolts in the hub, the interlocking halves of the bend limiter can be arranged on the deck, and the umbilical cable can be arranged in the fan-shaped hole. Then, the decker only needs to place the two matching halves on top of the umbilical cord, and then bolt the bend limiter together. By using a bolt-free hub in the vertebral bending limiter, half of the installation time can be saved.
Another benefit of boltless wheels is that they reduce overall costs. Bolts are usually made of expensive special materials to withstand harsh environmental conditions. Reducing the number of bolts reduces the total cost and reduces the total weight of the components. Simple innovations such as the boltless hub in the bend limiter can increase operational efficiency, thereby reducing drilling costs.
